Question Box
Is it permissible to live in the territory of one congregation but attend meetings elsewhere?
Generally speaking, it is best to attend the meetings of the congregation holding the territory where you live. Im most cases this proves to be in the best spiritual interests of the family, since it ordinarily makes it convenient to attend meetings, share in field service in territory close by and take advantage of help provided by the elders.
It is recognized, however, that individual circumstances vary. Such factors as one's secular work schedule, having an unbelieving mate or transportation problems may lead someone to conclude that it would be more advantageous spiritually to attend another congregation. Each family head bears responsibility for his own household. After considering all factors involved, he will have to decide what is best. He may want to discuss matters with the elders to get the benefit of their advice before he makes a decision. Perhaps they know of overlooked advantages that would result to the family in attending the congregation holding the territory where they live, or possible disadvantages that may be encountered in transferring to a neighbouring congregation. Often it is easier for the congregation holding the territory to render loving assistance. And the home of the family might be used as a book study location within the congregation holding the territory. But in final analysis, the elders will want to encourage the family head to decide in a way that will ensure the best spiritual benefits to his family. There is no reason to be critical of his decision when made.
In metropolitan areas, there is often a large number of congregations located in a concentrated area. There may be a number of reasons why the elders may decide that the interests of the work would be advanced by a transfer of publishers.
And it goes on about how it is the family head's responsibility to weigh all the factors and decide if such a transfer should be made. The same would be true of elders, ministerial servants or pioneers. (see Question Box in February 1973 Kingdom Ministry)

That's exactly what we did and with the co's blessing. He had told the elders of the new hall to use us to the fullest. Then the next pompous co came along, Birnie Geraux, and he told these elders to do what ever it takes to get us back to the old hall. Yet, my husband was being used as literature/book counter as well as territory for the last twelve years before we left. They still allowed us to pioneer and work at the bethel farm.
It will depend on your circuit overseer and how much you dump into their money pits. Why in the world would you want to put yourself through the agony of the gossip that will follow????
And yet the old hall had two elders who were living outside of their territory. And forty minutes away from us there were a congregation of Italians who had a few elders living outside of their territory as well as quite a few families. They had felt comfortable with one another since they were all Italians.
Rules are different in each hall, it seems. A bethel elder told us that they prefer you go to the hall your assigned to but there is no written in stone rule on that. I do know there is an article on it for I had dug it up years ago to give the co if we were given a hard time about it, which we were not.

Phone call from a brother last night
by label licker inthe brother and his wife thought the statement at the end of this month's broad cast show was a little off.
the org stated that jehovah's organisation can not be corrupted.
(needless to say only three had shown up for the broadcast meeting at the hall) he's never heard that before so we filled him in as to what the org has been up to and gave him jwnet, jw facts as well as jw survey to look at.

Thanks Cappytan, I would love to see that part. Just spoke to the brother and he said the organisation can not be corrupted. That's what it said on the April broadcast show.
Thank you ABibleStudent. I am putting that on my face book page as well as look into it.
All you people are a wealth of support and education. Again, thank you.

He said it was near the end of the video where they say the org can not be corrupted and it wasn't a governing body member that said that but by one of their other higher ups. I haven't seen it but would like to know if that was true since we're on a hub and if I have to see it then it will cost us more which this stinking org is not worth.
Leaving_quietly, your right. No where in the bible does it say that. I just checked.

According to them, they said it was the broadcast show they had to go to their hall to watch on the big screen. He said the elder was going to make another announcement to come for another showing since there were only three old timers that had shown up. None of them have computers. I didn't watch the show to hear this. They were pretty upset so I wonder if they have the show as well as the assembly tied in together.
They keep in touch with us every week now to know what else the org has been up to. We took our computer over to their place and had shown them some of the disgusting things this cult has been up to.

They also said that Hebrews chapter eleven was quoted and how they didn't see the promise in their time but they listened and obeyed so it's like today. We might not understand everything the FDS puts out but we will listen, obey and follow them since god is unsearchable and can not be found.
They were also turned off at what they owe for their one day assembly. The amount was over $16,000.00 for the one day. The coordinator told them when they asked him about it that that was the first time the assembly hall has ever asked for donations in eleven years, which was a lie. He also said that each hall only has to pay out $600.00 on top of their monthly tithe. They were pissed off. They asked me how is that a donation if they are expected to pay out a certain amount? Again, I gave them the info.
Thanks everyone for this site and its wealth of information.

After seeing what this cult has done to us personally and what we have seen with other religions through some of our past bible studies, all religions seem to have the same trademark. It all boils down to lies, memberships and money. All of them will tell you that only they have the truth. That they are guided by god's holy spirit. That they are god's mouthpiece. Give what you can give (we'll get the rest later by making you feel like your not doing enough)
Last time I read my bible, there were no church or imperfect man between Yeshuah and my husband. Just the man and then Christ, himself. And until that accurate knowledge is poured out in the end times, no one knows anything. I would rather wait and then stand in front of Yeshuah and answer to him alone for my sins. I don't have to answer to an imperfect group of goons who are made to believe they are the seven dukes or eight shepherds or god's mouthpiece or whatever.
When I start to see flames above their heads or they can turn water in to blood or stop up the rains from the heavens then I will start to watch. Religion is a snare and a racket for sure. They can all kill each other off for all I care. Just don't come to my door and preach love and then teach hatred. They tried to turn our personality into something we were never to become(what they call the new personality) and that is why we wanted out.
No one should have to be lied to in order to be someone else's slave. Families should not have to be made to make a decision when it comes to their loved ones or a flip flop religion. It's things like these that they don't tell you at the doors and if it were made known to the public and they still want to join then that's their choice. I guess when it comes to religion, everyone needs to be bitten once and then maybe will be twice shy. We weren't just bitten but skinned and devoured. Never again! I wouldn't wish religion on anyone.
